Starting a new adventure can sometimes be challenging, and a little scary. This blog is a little outside of the box for me. Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Karleigh and I am a sister of a many sister family in beautiful British Columbia Canada. I have 5 sisters to be exact. The majority of us live in the Kootenays. I am a crazy cat lady, and love craft beer. From a young age I have enjoyed reading, writing, wandering, and photography.
Reading and writing were a huge part of my upbringing. My dad read to me a ton as a child, and I think by age 4 I would have books memorized so well, that if he was tired and tried to skip a page of the book I would know! I also remember just loving writing as well. I still do to this day. My kindergarten teacher would enjoy reading my journal as I knew my alphabet and how the letters sounded so she could actually sound out most of my stories from day 1, and she thought it was funny that I always loved to rhyme.
My parents have a few stories of me wandering...It seemed to be one of my favorite pastimes naturally. My favorite story that I actually remember is when they lost me in Stanley Park(Scary then, but funny now). They had told me that if I could catch a squirrel I could keep it. They turned their back for 2 seconds to my sister, and I was gone. I tried so hard to lure squirrels with peanuts for what felt like hours, but only succeeded in handfeeding them. Eventually I wandered back to my parents, and received the scolding of a lifetime. I maintain to this day that they shouldn't have planted that idea in my head because they knew me and my future childhood included me bringing home snakes, lizards, frogs, birds, and cats asking if we could keep them. I currently have a dog and 4 cats lol.
Photography was also a love from a young age, as I would beg my parents to buy me disposable cameras to take photos of trips we went on. I would be so particular on what I would take photos of because I only had 18 shots(24 if they bought the camera with bonus shots). I usually saved them for wildlife or landscape photos. The day I got my first actual camera was our family trip to Disneyland. I still have photos in a bin from that day 20 years ago. These 4 passions of mine are what fill my cup. This blog I'm creating is more so a timeline of my adventures, and a way to share those passions. A blend of passion, and
important memories I want to hold on to. If you want to join my journey. Welcome. I hope to inspire your sense of adventure, and make you want to get out more and do more of what fills your own cup! Whatever that may be. Through this blog I will share adventures of myself, my family, and all the great places we explore. I'll be sure to include tips and tricks used to make our adventures easier. Also our favorite parts of the places we explore, and great places to eat, and get great craft beer. Ill be sure to include lots, and lots of photos, and recommendations that will hopefully make your life easier <3 Thank you so much for following along with my latest adventure.
